GLUETEX products are used in the construction of seams in air bags.
Typically a seam sealing tape or adhesive is used to reduce air loss during inflation.
Typical application procedures:
Using a hot air welder, seam tape is applied over a stitched seam to prevent the air from escaping through the stitch holes.
Adhesive tape is sewn into the seam during bag construction. The fabric with stitched-in tape is placed in an RF sealing fixture. The adhesive is activated by the RF tool and flows into the stitch holes, effectively creating a hermetic seal.
Adhesive tape is used to bond the air bag together without sewing and to avoid stitches in the textiles. A hot air or hot wedge machine is used to activate the adhesive and seal the adjoining fabrics of the air bag.
